[homeschoolhub] Re: NEW MEMBERS

Welcome to the area. There are at least a couple homeschool networks in the St. Joseph area, many local homeschoolers are involved in, connected to more than one resource. Check out the support group area of hshub.org http://www.hshub.org/Support_Groups.html, you will also find information on the same website regarding the partnership programs that others have mentioned.

[homeschoolhub] Soccer in the Chill, 2/27, Mon. 3-4-5? p.m.

According the forecast (derisive laughter), tomorrow's high will be 37 degrees, but the wind may make it feel like 25. On the other hand, the sky will be only partly cloudy and there is approximately zero chance of precipitation. What to do? What do do?

I know . . . Let's try it for an hour, and if we like it we'll play for another hour! My family will be contributing four players whose combined age is (about) 137. Who's willing to go head-to-head with the geezers!

Everyone is welcome regardless of age, or level of skill or fitness.

Mon. 2/27, 3 -4- 5? p.m. at Howard Park at the corner of
Jefferson Blvd. and St. Louis Blvd in South Bend.

Re: [homeschoolhub] NEW MEMBERS

Hi Mary Jane,

I second the suggest that Andrea presented.  Through that program you could pick up your Spanish curriculum.  I recommend that you contact Sharon Haynes in Berrien Springs.   I think that will be your closest partnership program.

Here is a link to a free 6 week online program on the Constitution  http://mpidirect.com/free-six-week-u-s-constitution-course-offered-by-hillsdale-college-starting-september-15th/    I am not sure if they offer it every year or not.   Through the partnership you could elect to take her history class as a dual enrollment class at LMC.

Re: [homeschoolhub] Fw: File - NEW MEMBERS

Welcome.  If you aren't signed up for the newsletter yet, you should do that.  That's where most of the info on local events, classes, and activities is shared.  Also, you might want to check out the website hshub.org.  There's a good "Getting Started" article.  (You can sign up for the newsletter there, too.)

I also HIGHLY recommend Linda Dobson's book "The Homeschooling Book of Answers" which is one I read when I was considering/researching homeschooling.  It has answers from homeschoolers of all types to any question anyone could think of from academics to special needs to socialization--the "s-word"!  :-)

I'm Jill, and my husband is Dan.  Avery is almost 5, Luke is 3, and Jace is 18 months.  I'm originally from Pennsylvania, but live in St. Joseph currently.  I am just a "prospective" homeschooler who has been doing a great deal of reading and research over the past several months on homeschooling/unschooling, and I really wanted to join this group now to get a sense of what kinds of activities and support are out there for homeschoolers in this area of Michigan.  So, I'm not using a specific curriculum yet, and in regards to offline group involvement, I think that would potentially happen in the future if we, as a family, decide that homeschooling is the best option for us.  My daughter will be "kindergarten" age in the fall, according to a typical school year.

Thank you,
Jill
