[homeschoolhub] Soccer in the (opti- or pessi-) Mist, Mon. 10/22, 3-5 p.m.

Last week we had unquantifiable but appreciable amounts of fun in the sun and the brisk air. This week we face the prospect of a 50% chance of rain. It's a test. The glass of probability is half full of rain: what's a homeschooler to do?

Shall we slump and stare, heavy-lidded out the window? Shall we avoid the pain of disappointment by sacrificing hope at the first opportunity? Or shall we say, "That glass is half-empty of rain!" There's no reason in the world why 3-5 p.m. can't be part of the dry half of the day! And what is rain anyway? Life-giving water! We bathe in it, we drink it, we cook with it, and we are in large measure made of it. To fear it or to allow it to deprive us of our weekly festival of athleticism would be to give it more power than an unspeakably common three-part molecule deserves.

So, on your way to the game this week, roll down the car windows and shout "It's half empty, and that's good enough for me!!"

Everyone is welcome regardless of age, or level of skill or fitness. Everyone will be valued for their contribution. No exceptions.

Mon. 10/22, 3-5 p.m. at Howard Park at the corner of Jefferson Blvd. and St. Louis Blvd in South Bend.

Bring a towel?
