Robotics Team
CRN: 50722
This class works toward learning to compete in the LEGO® League
Challenge Fall 2012. We will work as a team to build a robot and program
it to solve challenges. This class does include outside work (a research
project, signs, Saturday competitions, etc.).
Ages 9-14
Tuesdays 4-7pm 9/4/12 - 12/11/12
Elementary Simple Machines
CRN: 50723
Using DUPLO® blocks students will build moving creations and we will
discuss how and why they work (example: a pinwheel). There is no
computer usage in this class and the creations are built from following
simple pictures.
Ages 6-7
Mondays 12:30-1:30pm 9/10/12 - 12/10/12
WeDo® Robotics
CRN: 50724
Using specialty LEGO® kits students build a different machine each week.
Computer programming makes the machine move and different types of
movement are discussed (gears, levers, motors, etc.). No experience
required. Building instructions are step-by-step pictures.
Ages 7-8
Mondays 10am-11:30am 9/10/12 - 12/10/12
Robotics I (NEW students)
CRN: 50493
Students will build a robot using a blueprint, learn to use sensors and
program their robot. They will practice their new-found skills by
programming their robot to accomplish specific missions. Students need to
have basic computer skills and be able to work both independently and as
part of a group.
Ages 9-15
Mondays 4-7pm 9/10/12 - 12/10/12
Robotics II
CRN: 50494
Building on the skills learned in Robotics I, students will learn to design and
build their own robot. Building skills are the emphasis in this class,
although there will be some programming as well.
Ages 9-15
Thursdays 4-7pm 9/6/12 - 12/13/12
