Today we face a 90% chance of thunderstorms. Based upon that statistic, what are the odds that our game will be rained out? How can I live with the uncertainty? I can't. Yet we must.
Speaking of important and perennial issues, have y'all thought about sportsmanship lately? When I was a child, I was taught to look up to professional athletes (seriously!). Now I often have to ask the kids to look away from them. The same lowering of standards is occurring in interscholastic sports and even playground games. Belittling your adversary or even your teammates is in style: it's manly; it's tough; it's real.
But it is not permitted in our games.* Deal with it.
How's that for tough?
Everyone is welcome regardless of age, or level of skill or fitness. Everyone will be valued for their contribution. No exceptions.
